Coordinate patient needs to facilitate patient care planning and create a positive experience for the patient as well as internal customers.  Responsibilities of the Surgery Coordinator  - Make certain all initial consultations, pertinent notes, lab slips, radiology and pathology reports are appropriate for surgery scheduling  - Instruct patients of tests and procedures, appointments, check-in locations and other general information in a professional and courteous manner and in accordance with policies and procedures  - May coordinate hospital admissions and communicate with patients as appropriate  - Accurately coordinate surgery in accordance with computer system protocol, CPT criteria, and regulatory guidelines and ensure completion of billing documentation  - Respond to telephone messages and inform patients as needed  - Schedule surgical appointments and immediately enter appointment date and time into the EMR and physician personal calendar  - Responsible for knowing the physician's personal schedule and coordinating it with the clinical and surgical schedules  - Retrieve authorization from insurance carrier for surgeries and office visits if applicable  - Enter office and surgical appointments directly into Centricity  - Coordinate referrals for patients through insurance and other physicians’ offices and schedule outpatient testing  - Conduct reminder calls to all patients  - Track incoming scans for film reviews for upcoming consultations or office visits  - Assist other staff personnel during busy times or staff shortage  About the Company  This well-known and successful healthcare system has remained a symbol of quality for over 25 years.
