Compensation and Schedule for the Surgery Procedure Scheduler
Surgery Procedure Scheduler – Full-time, onsite, $20-$23 per hour, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Join a great team with room for growth!
Required Qualifications of the Surgery Procedure Scheduler
- 3+ years of recent procedure or surgery scheduling experience required
- Referrals and authorizations experience required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Medical Assistant diploma or certification preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Job Summary for the Surgery Procedure Scheduler
Provide support with the daily activities of procedure scheduling for Cardiology procedures, registration, and patient referrals. Interact with patients, staff, providers, and other professionals to schedule patient procedures as directed by the physician. Coordinate patient needs to facilitate patient care planning and create a positive experience for the patient as well as internal customers.
Responsibilities of the Surgery Procedure Scheduler
- Ensure all initial consultations, pertinent notes, lab slips, radiology and pathology reports are appropriate for surgery scheduling
- Instruct patients of tests and procedures, appointments, check-in locations, and other general information in a professional and courteous manner and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Coordinate hospital admissions and communicate with patients as appropriate
- Accurately coordinate surgery in accordance with computer system protocol, CPT criteria, and regulatory guidelines and ensure completion of billing documentation
- Respond to telephone messages and inform patients as needed
- Schedule procedure appointments and immediately enter appointment date and time into the EMR and physician personal calendar
- Maintain knowledge of the physician's personal schedule and coordinate it with the clinical and surgical schedules
- Retrieve authorization from insurance carrier for surgeries and office visits if applicable
- Enter office and surgical appointments directly into system
- Coordinate referrals for patients through insurance and other physicians’ offices and schedule outpatient testing
- Conduct reminder calls to all patients
- Track incoming scans for film reviews for upcoming consultations or office visits
- Maintain a working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Assist other staff personnel during busy times or staff shortage
